Soliflore
A perfume centered on the character of one flower. The floral theme can be supported by other notes and created from multiple fragrance materials.
A soliflore places one flower at the center of the composition. It may interpret rose, jasmine, lilac or another floral subject, rather than presenting several flowers together as the main theme.
One floral subject does not mean one ingredient. Supporting green, woody, spicy or musky effects can help shape the flower’s character. The interpretation may aim for a recognizable bloom or emphasize a particular aspect of it.
Dior describes Les Récoltes Majeures La Rose as a soliflore with honeyed, fruity, spicy and green facets. Those supporting impressions are compatible with a rose-centered perfume. They also give a sampler more specific points to compare than the word rose alone.
If you enjoy a particular flower, try contrasting interpretations. Notice whether you prefer a fresher, powderier or sweeter presentation and whether you still enjoy it after the opening settles. Soliflore describes the focus of the perfume; choose its sweetness, strength and development according to what you want to wear.
