Dior Sauvage Eau de Toilette

EDT, EDP and Parfum usually indicate increasing fragrance concentration, but they can also be different compositions. Buy the version you prefer after sampling; a stronger label doesn’t automatically mean better scent, longer wear or better value.

Is Eau de Parfum Actually Better Than Eau de Toilette?

No. An EDP may give you more of the base notes you enjoy, while an EDT may have the brighter opening you prefer. As the Perfume Society explains, versions with different concentration labels can contain different notes. Think of them as bottles to compare, rather than a simple good/better/best ranking.

If you like an EDT, don’t order its EDP assuming you’ve already smelled it. Try both through the drydown.

These are approximate conventions, not exact specifications for every bottle. The Perfume Shop’s concentration guide gives these common ranges. Brand formulas can fall outside them, and percentage alone doesn’t measure projection.

Is Parfum Gentler On Sensitive Skin?

Not necessarily. The FDA identifies fragrance materials as potential allergens, so reducing alcohol doesn’t remove every possible cause of irritation. A more concentrated perfume is not a treatment for a rash caused by an EDT.

Stop using a product that causes a reaction. Seek medical advice for persistent or recurring symptoms rather than trying stronger versions on irritated skin.

Which One Should You Actually Buy?

Start with samples of the exact versions you are considering. Wear them on separate days so you can judge the opening, how the scent changes and whether you still enjoy it later. Avoid buying a full bottle simply because its concentration sounds like an upgrade.

For the office, decide how noticeable you want the fragrance to be and adjust your application. An EDT can project strongly, and a Parfum can stay close to the skin; the label isn’t a substitute for trying that particular scent.

Compare equal bottle sizes when deciding value. An EDT is often the less expensive option within a line, but the better buy is the version you’ll actually wear. Don’t assume an expensive Parfum will pay for itself through fewer sprays.

Can You Turn An EDT Into An EDP?

No. Extra sprays add more EDT; they don’t change its ingredient balance into a different formula. If the EDP has a different mix of notes, spraying more EDT won’t reproduce it.

Choose the version whose smell you prefer, then use an amount that suits the setting. Our strength guide also covers Cologne and Eau Fraiche.

The Same Fragrance, Different Tiers

Dior Sauvage has EDT, EDP and Parfum versions. Dior’s Sauvage Eau de Parfum page describes bergamot and vanilla, making it a separate option to compare with the EDT and Parfum.

Check the full concentration name on the listing and box. Buying another Sauvage version gives you another composition to judge, not a guaranteed improvement over the one you already like.
