Luxury Fragrance Is Growing — Here's What That Means for You

Fragrance was a growth driver for the Estée Lauder Companies in fiscal 2026. In its August 19 results, the company reported 10% organic fragrance sales growth, led by luxury brands including Le Labo, Tom Ford and Kilian Paris. The fiscal year ended June 30, 2026.

For fragrance shoppers, the results point to activity around both established scents and new releases. They also offer a reason to distinguish a brand’s commercial success from your own reasons for buying a bottle.

Where the company sees growth

Estée Lauder cited Le Labo’s Classic Collection and launches such as Violette 30 and perfuming hand creams. For Tom Ford, it identified new releases alongside growth in existing Private Blend and Signature fragrances. Kilian Paris’s established Angels’ Share and Love, don’t be shy families also contributed.

The company reported opening 33 net new freestanding fragrance stores globally during the fiscal year, led by Le Labo and Jo Malone London. A new local store can be useful if it gives you somewhere to compare samples in person.

The wider market includes different price tiers

Circana’s first-half 2026 U.S. report gives a broader view. Prestige fragrance dollar sales rose 6%, while unit sales were flat and average prices rose 5%. Mass-market fragrance sales rose 15%, with units up 7%. Luxury fragrance recorded both dollar and unit growth.

These figures cover different measures and a different reporting period from Estée Lauder’s fiscal results. Together, they show demand across price tiers rather than a reason for every shopper to move to a more expensive bottle.

Choose the fragrance you want to wear

Le Labo Santal 33 offers a useful example of why personal preference still matters. One owner enjoys its soft, sweet woods and floral character. Some other wearers find an unwanted dill or pickle-like impression on skin. A successful brand can make a fragrance that you love or one you would rather leave behind.

When sampling a prestige fragrance, compare it with something you already enjoy. Decide whether you prefer the scent itself, whether its presence suits the places you would wear it, and whether you want it often enough to buy the size you are considering.

Use the growth in choice

Try a sample or smaller format when you want more time with a scent. If you value a particular bottle, refill arrangement or store service, include that in your decision alongside the fragrance. Check the exact format and terms for the product you choose.

Browse the Le Labo, Tom Ford or Kilian directories to explore their scent directions. The useful outcome is a fragrance you want to wear at a cost you are comfortable with, whether it comes from a growing luxury house or another part of the market.
