Unique Cologne That Smells Like Sagebrush

D.S. & Durga Cowboy Grass Eau de Parfum is the starting point for sagebrush with dry grass, herbs and vetiver. Solstice Scents Desert Thunderstorm Eau de Parfum puts sagebrush into a wetter setting, with pine, creosote, rain and smoke.

Cowboy Grass: the dry, herbal direction

D.S. & Durga’s Cowboy Grass combines rosewood, wild thyme and bergamot with sagebrush, basil and rose otto, over vetiver, grass and ambergris notes. The perfumer describes an herbal vetiver with a dry, almost smoky wood character. Choose it when grass and aromatic herbs matter more than rain or sweetness.

A wearer who loved it compared the smell to dry brush, stepped-on sage and powdery dirt on a hike. Another found it lovely and herbal on some days but reminiscent of bug spray on others. Several individual reviews describe medicinal or ointment-like impressions too. Its aromatic sharpness is worth trying on skin.

Desert Thunderstorm: sagebrush after rain

Solstice Scents Desert Thunderstorm EDP combines desert sagebrush, pinyon pine and resin, petrichor, sweetgrass, creosote, sand, rabbitbrush, ponderosa pine and smoke. The maker describes rain and herbal notes at first, becoming more woody and herbal later, with resinous smoke underneath. This is the option for a whole wet-desert scene rather than sagebrush alone.

Check the edition when sampling: Solstice Scents identifies an August 2026 reformulation, following its earlier 2015 and May 2026 versions. The maker says the main components remain but the versions aren’t identical. Its product page also flags hay and advises against applying it directly to skin after a hot shower or bath.

Dry grass or wet desert?

Pick Cowboy Grass if you want aromatic herbs and dry vetiver. Compare Desert Thunderstorm if pine, rain and resinous smoke are equally important to the scent you’re imagining. When sampling, decide whether you enjoy the sharp herbal opening and the later woody character separately; they needn’t make the same impression.

For softer aromatic florals, compare lavender perfumes. For greenery with salt and woods rather than a desert theme, see our beach perfume comparison.
