3 Woody Colognes You'll Love
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée EDP adds iris, cocoa and spice to woods. Diptyque Tam Dao EDT puts sandalwood and cedar alongside myrtle and cypress. Le Labo Santal 33 EDP adds cardamom, flowers and a leathery character to sandalwood and cedar.
Start with the character you want around the wood. Powdery iris, aromatic greenery and leather make these three quite different choices.

Givenchy Gentleman Boisée Eau de Parfum
Gentleman Boisée combines black pepper and coriander with iris, cocoa and cedar, then sandalwood, a burning-wood accord and patchouli. Pick it if a woody perfume with powdery and cocoa facets sounds more appealing than a simple forest scent. Boisée and Réserve Privée are separate Gentleman fragrances.
A wearer who tried it on skin enjoyed a peppery opening, smooth iris and toasty woods, though the iris passed quickly for them. Another loved the woody fragrance but wanted the opening and projection to stay longer. If iris is the main reason you’re interested, check how prominent it remains after the first spray.
Diptyque Tam Dao Eau de Toilette
Tam Dao EDT features sandalwood, cedar, cypress and myrtle. Diptyque describes slightly spicy sandalwood refreshed by the aromatic greenery. This is the starting point for wood itself, rather than cocoa or a prominent leather effect. The Eau de Parfum is a separate version.
One wearer described freshly split wood that felt green and damp yet also a little smoky, with a dusty, powdery echo. Another enjoyed the scent but found it too short-lived and close to skin. It is worth comparing if you want an aromatic woody perfume, especially if a quieter presence suits you.
Le Labo Santal 33 Eau de Parfum
Santal 33 combines sandalwood and cedar with cardamom, iris, violet and spicy, leathery, musky notes. Try it when you want more leather and spice around the wood than Tam Dao’s aromatic direction.
Wearer impressions help explain why it is worth smelling on skin. One bottle owner loved its creamy quality and association with scented stationery. Another disliked a wood-stain-like opening, although the wood and leather drydown was more appealing. Some wearers also report a dill or pickle association; that is a perception to check for, rather than a listed ingredient.
